“Believe in yourself and all that you are. Know that there is something inside you that is greater than any obstacle.”
– Christian D. Larson
Vision
Shining Light Ranch has a vision of providing a safe and welcoming environment for all to encourage self-empowerment and becoming one’s best version of themselves.
Mission (SELF)
Shining Light Ranch exists to help children and youth:
Strengthen self-awareness,
Expand empathy,
Learn confidence, and
Find their unique gifts.
Core Values (GOAT)
Our equine facility will be guided by the following values:
- Growth Mindset: A core aim of the ranch involves cultivating an organization-wide culture that embodies a growth-mindset. A growth mindset predicts student achievement and behavior and is one of the strongest predictors of not only test scores, but long-term success throughout life.
- Orderliness: We want to make sure that the ranch is a safe and orderly place where the focus can be on learning. To do this, we will make sure that everyone who visits the ranch is instructed in animal care and safety, tool safety, and pride in the cleanliness of the property.
- Accountability: One of the important traits of a successful person is a solid work ethic. Developing a strong work ethic benefits self and others. To foster the willingness to accept responsibility and account for one’s actions, visitors to the ranch will be asked to take part in the general care and upkeep of the ranch as a whole or to be responsible for the care of individual animals. Participants will learn the correlation between hard work and payoff and the joy that comes from caring for others and being a part of something bigger than yourself.
- Tolerance: We will consistently model tolerance, defined as the ability to allow the existence of opinions or behavior of which one does not necessarily agree, of self and others at Shining Light Ranch.
We need donations to continue providing a safe and welcoming environment where children can grow in confidence. Can you help?
