The goal of Shining Light Ranch is to let children explore their intelligences by choosing from various activities (e.g. gardening, music, art, exercise, equine interaction/riding, etc.). Sessions are, therefore, unique to each child. However, all sessions last 30 minutes and are 1:1.
Studies have shown that humans gain emotional benefits such as confidence, trust, non-verbal communication, and bonding when interacting with horses. Horses do NOT judge, use sarcasm, or ridicule, which empowers one to overcome fears, gain confidence, and develop relationships in a non-threatening environment.
Because of the value of horse and human interactions, sessions will most often include working with a horse. Horse interactions can range from observing horse behavior, reading to a horse, touching a horse for the first time up to learning beginning riding skills.
